Simple Photoshop Guide

How to have a Good Print of Digital Photos

Did you ever come accross like this situation that you give some of your photos that you have captured by your Digital Camera to the Photo Lab for printing, you turn up at the lab after one hour with full enthusiasm, the guy in the lab handed over you a very disgusting & distorted picture of you, while all the settings and exposer in the camera itself was o.k. Well, fault is of the Lab Guy of course, but that can be avoided to certain extent in your home! A brief simple steps below could help you out saving your money and your frenzy!!!! especially if you use Sony make Digital Camera (Dont ask me why!!!)

Step 1: Open a Photoshop

Step 2 : Click 'File>Open

Step 3: Browse the photo you want to print and click 'open'-

Step 4: There you are...your photo in the Photoshop...dont panic, you are halfway already!! I dont think we required "as shown below.." picture!!!

Step 5: Select a Crop Tool, select pixels/inch and in the bar, enter the values – Width 6 in & Height 4 in - if you want to have a 4X6 photos, you can make it Width 7 inch & Height 5 inch if you want 5X7 photo size, just keep in mind that a photo of 5MegaPixel and above are advised for this size (note the red circle, don't expect the photoshop will guide you with this kind of red circle in the tool bar!!! That is why you need this guide!!).

Step 6 : Drag fully in the picture and press ENTER
. See the arrow mark showing the dragged line (you can do it, this is very simple you homo sapiens!!, just drag accross your photo fully, the dotted mark would not go any further than your choosen size!)

Step 7: Now you are a proud owner of standardised 4X6 photo of yours. Now go to IMAGE>Adjustment>auto levels >Click (don't forget to click!!!)

Step 8: Again Go to IMAGE>Adjustment> Auto Colour > Click (I repeat, dont forget to click!)

Step 9: Now the main bussiness of this crumpy guide!(I'm sorry that you need this step, because most of the Digital Camera really need exposer compensation(!) especially if you set your camera in 'Auto' -otherwise, you are once again totally dependent on the Lab guy who may do it for you...and you know that is really risky!!!
Press CTRL + M and you got new window and position your mouse as shown in the red circle-

Step 10: Now drag the mouse upward a bit as shown with red lines. Click O.K.
Observe the brightness (exposer-more correctly) in the photos, by trial and error method, what I have found out is that the prints really impressed whenever I made it like "Oh, that will be a little too bright for the photo!", the brightness of the photo always came out darker than what you have seen in the pc monitor in the print!!

Step 11: Now you are ready, just click File>SaveAs, Choose a file name and destination, choose File type as JPEG. Click Save. You get this window and choose Quality 12, Baseline Optimized & Size 28.8Kbps. Click OK.

YOU ARE DONE!! Congratulations*****
Note: If the original picture exposer is too low (too dark picture), you gotta do step no. 10 a bit generously. Happy editing!
